The IPS Student Association (IPSSA) is an entirely student-run group comprised of first and second-year IPS students. IPSSA’s three key objectives are:
Advocacy - represent the needs and opinions of the student body and nurture a two-way feedback channel between administrators and students. IPSSA also strives to support the IPS administration in program improvement. It suggests and helps implements improvements to the IPS program based on student feedback, ranging from degree requirements to practicum design to social media strategy.
Professional Development - provide networking, skills-building and other career-related opportunities for IPS students to ensure they are able to find and attain positions that best suit their goals and interests
Community Building - foster a community around current student and IPS alumni. We provide connectivity and networking opportunities for current students as well as enhance alumni participation and access.
During 2016, IPSSA welcomed the first years with course advice and a mentoring program. In the spirit of increasing camaraderie, IPSSA also organized the annual Admit Day BBQ, planned the annual Tahoe Trip, and hosted social and academic events, including a Chocolate Tasting Night, several Stanford Football Tailgates, and an Election Debate Watch Party.
