The Hong Kong Student Association is proud to kick off Cantonese Awareness Week with a screening of Ten Years, an award-winning dystopian political satire expressing concerns of diminishing freedom and human rights in Hong Kong under increasing Chinese social and political influence. In addition to being a sensation in Hong Kong, the film is banned in mainland China due to its politically sensitive content. Snacks will be provided.
This event is part of Stanford HKSA's inaugural Cantonese Awareness Week, a series of events dedicated to exploring and understanding Cantonese identity. This year, the focus will be on the sociopolitical status of Cantonese communities worldwide.
